TSR FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

TSR FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions Below you can find some of the frequently asked questions and answers.

What is TimeSheet Reporter?
TimeSheet Reporter® makes it possible to report time on organizations, projects and activities from your MS Outlook® Calendar.
You can also integrate TSR with your other systems, such as accounting, ERP and CRM, and share data both ways.

Will I have the same functions in my Outlook Calendar as I used to?
Yes. TSR will only add functionalities, not remove any.

We already have an ERP system that our staff enter their time in. What do we need TSR for?
TSR makes it possible to register time via your Outlook calendar. In this way your staff do not need to go into several different systems, as well as remember what they did several days ago. This minimizes the risk for errors and missing time entries. The information is already there.
TSR is furthermore able to share data (both ways) such as projects, activities and time entries with your other systems, including ERP, CRM and accounting systems, so you’re still able to work with your data there.

When I invite others to an appointment, will the TSR info such as project, activity, etc. also be in the appointments of the people I invite?
They will have to add this information themselves, to make sure that they add projects, etc. that they have access to.

I use Outlook in a language that TimeSheet Reporter does not come with. Can I still use the product?
Sure, no problem. Just use the language you prefer in TSR (for example English), or create your own language files.

What are the system requirements for running TSR?
For the system requirements for running TSR, please see the product sheet – TSR Product Sheet.

Do we need to use Microsoft Exchange to use TimeSheet Reporter?
Not at all. Information is stored locally and on the TSR Server.

We use iMail server and local Outlook calendars. Can we still use TSR?
Sure. TSR is not dependent on for example MS  Exchange.

We use Mac computers. Can we use TSR?
Yes. We do not have a Mac client at the moment, but you can access the TSR web interface via the browser.

Do you support iPad?
At the moment we do not have an iPad app, however, you can access the TSR web interface via the browser.

Do you support iPhone?
At the moment we do not support iPhone.

Can I register and submit time for my colleagues?
Yes. If you have the right privileges you can register and submit time for your colleagues via the web interface.

What happens if I delete an appointment that has been submitted for approval, or has already been approved?
No worries. TSR can be configured to recreate deleted appointments in your calendar. Talk to your system administrator to have this feature enabled.

I would like to use data from TSR in my ERP system and also the other way around. What should I do?
TSR DataBridge (which is included) makes it possible to exchange data between TSR and other systems. See the manual for further information on how to set this up.

Can I still create appointments, such as private appointments and birthdays, without them having to be used with TSR?
Yes. You can use your calendar as you always have. Only appointments that you need to report time on needs to be filled out with TSR data.

How do I see if an appointment is submitted, approved, etc.?
There are actual several ways. The appointment will change its status, and visually it will change color in your calendar.

Can I use TSR if I'm not logged on to the server or am offline?
Yes. TSR has great offline possibilities when working with Microsoft Outlook.

Is it possible to manually enter or edit time entries, without using Outlook?
It is. Have the need to sometimes skip Outlook and enter or edit your time entries manually? With the TSR web interface this option is also possible.
The same feature also makes it possible for users with the right privileges to manually enter and edit time entries for other users.

Can I buy fewer TSR licenses than I have Outlook users?
Yes. You only need to acquire licenses for the users that need to register time. Since the price per license drops according to the number of licenses you buy, you might consider acquiring for all your users though.

We are using MS Office 2003. Can we use TSR?
TSR is in it’s current form only designed for MS Office 2007 and Office 2010. There are other benefits of upgrading your Office, so you might want to consider that.

Does TSR support MS Office 2010?
Yes it does.

Is AD necessary to use TSR?
For the hosted version (where we host the server part so you only need to install the Outlook user agent), no. Login will here be made via username and password. For the on-premise solution (where you host the server part yourself), yes. Login will here be made using your AD credentials.

Do we need a server environment to use TSR?
For the hosted version, no. We will here host the server part for you, so you basically only need a computer with Outlook and an internet connection, on where to install the TSR Outlook addin. For the on-premise solution, you will need a Microsoft Server invironment on which to install and run the TSR server part.
For more information about the technical requirements, please check out the product sheet.

What languages does TSR come with?
