Limitations/Considerations with TSR OUA Light

The regular TSR Outlook User Agent works with the installed version of Outlook for Windows.

The TSR OUA Light is a supplement to this, so that users using for example Outlook for Mac and Outlook for Web can also benefit from TSR in Outlook.

OUA Light also works with Outlook for Windows, but in those cases we recommend using the regular OUA.

There are some limitations/considerations you should take when using the OUA Light add-in:

Why the limitations?

We would of course love to give you the same experience with OUA Light as with the regular OUA. However there are some pretty strict restrictions in cross-platform apps for Office 365.

We will of course continue to explore how to give you even more options in OUA Light, but currently there are some limitations, so just be aware of that.

Should you choose the regular OUA or OUA Light?

OUA Light is a supplement to the regular OUA. So if you use Outlook for Windows, we’d recommend using the regular OUA, although you can use OUA Light if you wish.

So, OUA Light makes it possible to also use TSR when using Outlook for Mac and Outlook for Web.

Office 365

TSR OUA Light is only tested with Office 365.

Synchronization

When using TSR OUA Light and opening TSR info or saving/submitting an entry, this entry will be synchronized immediately.

You can also run a synchronization for multiple entries, by opening a random TSR appointment, and clicking the ‘Synchronize’ button.

You should use this if you want to update the status, etc. of appointments that for example have been changed on the TSR server, for example by having been approved, etc.

Expenses

In the current version of OUA Light, you cannot report expenses. To do so, you must use either the web interface or the TSR OUA for Windows.

Meeting invitations

Meeting invitations (incoming/outgoing) are currently not supported, due to the limitations posed on cross-platform Office add-ins. In most cases TSR will warn you that you cannot use TSR with invitations, but you should also be aware of this. If you for example create an appointment with TSR info, and after this click the invite button, it may not be prevented, but you should not do this, due to data integrity concerns.

What you should do instead is to create a separate appointment to use with TSR.

Recurring appointments

Recurring appointments are currently not supported. In most cases TSR will warn you that you cannot use TSR with recurring appointments, but you should also be aware of this. If you for example create an appointment with TSR info, and after this click the recurrence button, it will not be prevented, but you should not do this, due to data integrity concerns.

What you should do instead is to create a separate appointment to use with TSR.
That being said, we are exploring ways of handling this.

Changing appointments on the calendar overview

If you change a TSR appointment from the Outlook calendar overview, for example dragging it, deleting it, etc., you need to run a synchronization for this to update on the server.

Please see further up this guide on how to do this.

Deleting an appointment

If you delete an appointment in Outlook, with TSR info, you will need to run a synchronization for this to update on the server.

Please see further up this guide on how to do this.

Changes to entries made on WebAdmin

If you change a time entry on TSR WebAdmin, for example the status or subject/description, etc., you should run a synchronization in OUA Light, before making any changes in OUA Light. Please see further up on how to run a synchronization.
